Fasting Diary - 2nd Time Past 48 Hours - Completely Different This Time

So after being fully satiated after my first ever 72 hour fast I went straight into another fast the next day.

And this time it is completely different. I don't know what has changed but my guess is that my body is adjusting to the longer period of fasting.

I'm currently at 63 hours and I feel absolutely fine! I'm not hungry and have no cravings. I feel focused too, like, really focused. I feel awake, not tired, not sluggish. I even got back into my weightlifting routine this morning for the first time in months.

Just wow.

I need to break the fast earlier than 3 days this time due to a concert tonight and family commitments over the weekend but I'm very excited about extending again in the near future.

Good times :)

Fasting Diary - My First Experience Hitting 72 Hours (3 Days)

Now that was an experience!
My first 72 hour fast was completed yesterday at 11.45AM.

This was just in time for a Diwali celebration lunch at work with amazing and delicious Indian treats and curries. I felt like I could eat everything in sight but quickly realised after my first helping that my stomach didn't quite have the size available to match my eyes' expectations! I finished a second helping feeling comfortably full, satiated and ready for an afternoon nap.

The final hours leading up to my goal were not easy. The night before I was feeling some pretty intense hunger pangs in the stomach. I got through by telling myself the first time I did 24 and 48 hours were very similar feelings. I also had a dull headache.

I then woke up in the morning feeling very groggy. My brain felt like it was screaming to wake up properly but just couldn't. This may have been part of the process of switching to ketosis for the first time but I'm not 100% sure. I'm going to test it out again on another 3 day fast sometime in the near future.

My main assumption is that I am not very fat adapted. My diet is vegetarian / vegan with moderately high(ish) carb so may have had a harder time than usual switching from glycogen to ketones. All in all, I'm very keen to keep going. My goal is to eventually get to a 14 or 20 day fast one day soon but I want to feel good (without the obvious expected symptoms) while doing it.

Bring it on!

Fasting Diary - First time past 48 hours!

I'm in uncharted territory for the first time fasting longer than 48 hours. I've decided to go for 72 hours.

Today has been tougher than what I'm used to. I've had feelings of hunger in my stomach for most of the day. I've been drinking peppermint tea throughout and have just got home to a can of La Croix. I've also just taken my multivitamin.

The feeling of hunger does not have me swayed to break my record and hit 72 hours. I have no adverse effects apart from a bit of dull mindedness at times during the day.

Weighed myself this morning and I'm at 61.5kg. Down from my usual 63 - 64kg zone but most will be water weight.

Feeling excited about making it through!
